WELLINGTON RUGBY UNI(}N. : Tho weokly. meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union was'held last night. There wore present: Messrs. Murray,(in'thb'chair), Alpe, E. Hales, W. Hardham, J. Burns; J. O'Sullivan;: J. Sweeney, and W. G. Talbot (secretary). . - -• ./;/."' .. . , It was decidod to approach the City Council'with a view to obtaining' permission to play - representative matches on NewtownPark. ; - : \ • . Tho Chairman stated that ;he had - waited on the Mayor with;a request that extra cars bo put on in conncction with the matches at Miramar. Mr. Hislop had replied .that there should not be much difficulty'in providing additional facilities. Inter alia,, tho .chairman, also stated that it was, proposed to convey patrons to Miramar by boat on a ticket which would also include the prico of admission.';.'' The Lower Hutt Borough Council wrote that it had conceded the points • raised by the Union ,in;.connection .with the.,uso of .the Recreation Ground,' themodifications being .as follow:—(l), That tho Kia Ora Club should "'ploy/as many matches ,as .the Union ,can conveniently ;arrange for them at Lower Hutt; (2). limiting the right of the Council to; use the; ground for other purposes for two' Saturdays, 'only during tho . time, the; ground is . leased to the Union; • (3) that notice of tho Committee's wish that any. match; should not bq . played. onthe - ground on . any Saturday on account of the state of tho weather should be conveyed to the Union not- later than twelve. noon on such days. . , ■Mr.' F. G. Bolton communicated with the Union' upon, the • advisableness of bringing pressure.' to bear , upon the city authorities aiid.the city members with tho object of having the Bill relative to the Hutt Park amended'to provide for tho control of tho property* being- vested in. the city, as . well as in tho surrounding boroughs.
