'•' . , The farm, which is known a3 randy Bach, Henllys, is freehold property owned by Mr. Richard Jones. A mining expert who reccntly visited the district noticcd the siniilarity of tho rocks to gold-bearing rocks in 'other'parts of the world. ■ He obtained tho permission of the owners to have a quantity of the rocks crushed and assayed, with the result that tho ore was found to bo of extraordinary richness. Teims have been arranged with the owner of the land, and a company is being formed for . working the ore. As. soon as the registration is complete mining operations will bo started. Provious to tho visit of the expert no suspicion was eniortained that the.rocks were gold-bearing, and -largo quantities have been used for making tho roads in the district. Gold has beon found ivfc many places in the United Kingdom at different times, but usuallv it has boon in such minute quantity that it has not paid for, the working. So far as the official returns go, the total'value of the gold mined in the United Kingdom during tho past twenty years lias been £345,645.: ... Most of this has como from .Merionethshire. At tho present' timo only four producing minos are in -xistence —three in Merionethshire (tho Gwyn, tho St. David's, and tho Borth Valley), ar.d the Ogofau, in Carmarthenshire.
