CHURCH CONGRESS.

INDUSTRIAL AND PRACTICAL QUES- ' , TIONS.

. Tho arrangements for the. Church Congress, which is to bo held in Manchoster noxt October, are being vigorously pushed forward. A strong Subjects Committee, with tho Bishop and tho. Dean at its head, is busily engaged in drawing up tho programmo of tho proceedings. No fewer than six halls, with their auxiliary rooms havo already been engaged. Accommodation for about SOOO peoplo will thus bo provided. Meeting halls have also boon scoured in half a dozen other Lancashire towns, and it is confidently expected that tho'whole of tho county will thus bo brought to participate in tho proceedings of what is hopod will bo a gathering of groat popularity and significance. Full advantage will bo taken of tho presence of distinguished American and colonial churchmen in attendauco at tho Pan-Anglican Congress, soveral of whom will bo impressed into tho Bervico of tho Manchester Congress. Tho problem as to tho precise relation of tho Manchester gathering to tho earlier one is not likely to givo trouble to tho Manchester organisors, who feel that industrial and practical questions, rather than cecumonical or merely speculative ones must havo tho placo of precedence in tho deliberations of a Congress which is to bo hold in a groat contre of-throbbing industrial life. It

is interesting to note that tho American Consul in Manchester is to servo on tho Genera! Purposes Committee.
