HARBOUR BOARD.

YESTERDAY'S ELECTIONS. ' ; LIGHT POLLINC IN THE CITY. *\" ■ ' FIVE NEW MEMBERS. / ' The biennial elections of members of thß Wellington Harbour Board were held yesterday. The chief interest centred in. the polling for two representatives of tho municipal i \ electors of the'eity, but even hero the polling was by no means heavy. It is not known how many potential voters, out of tho 21,627 on the roll exercised the privilege of tho franchise, because while every, elector might vote for two candidates some voted: only for ' the on& whom they specially favoured. Tho total number of valid, votes cast was 5368, and/allowing for "plumpers" it may be as- ' sumed that about 3000 people voted, say, one- - seventh of those who had tho right to ao so. Even this unsatisfactory poll : is better than that of two years ago, when only 2803 votes were cast. Mr. Robert Fletcher, who was • elected for the first time in'l9o6, again heads . . the poll. His colleague oh this occasion is Mr. F. G. Bolton, Mayor of Eastbourne,'' ..member of several local ,bodies, and partner in the legal firm: of;, Messrs, Bolton.' arid' Organ. : Ho takes the place vacated by Mr. Harold Beauchdmp, who.did- not offer himself for re-election." \ '■■■■' . ...Polling was slow, throughout tho'day, ..the*;'::', only 'booths' where -ahy degree' of animation was shown' being those at the Town Hall „ and in .Poiiama Street,., which were > ■ fairly busy. . A ' vehicles were ■' ■ employed to Taring voters to the poll, the two , ; successful candidates haying tho most assist- j ance'in that; way. 'As an indication of the . languid, disposition of 'the burgesses, it may be stated thati from* 9 aim.' t0'2.30 p.m. only • two people voted at Brooklynthe first three) hours of the polling, saw! as many 'electors : mark'their ballot'papers at Kilbirnio; - threeV voted up to half-past eleven at the Victoria Hall; Adelaide Road; and'by. two o'clock only <.» nine had entered the Church Room in Arc " Street'for'tho same purpose.' \ . The poll closed at six o'clock, and the re.' - " turning officer. (Mr. Jame3 Ames)' had tho results completed: about an hour later, there was no public official declaration of the poll. .(■ and no demonstration took place. The following, is a complete return of the \ oting
