Maxwell, chairman of directors, in moving, that the report and,.'balance-sheet .be ,adopted ' ajid dividend 'dcclnml, spqko..as follows"Tlie" Company has hnd.V.very .sue-' cessfui; year.. During "tlic' juisl; twelve' months it.- has taken over the, securities of the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation, which is .'retiring train: business in New Zealand.' The business.is of a very satisfactory chavaetpr, and wc-have been able to 'make financial arrangements accordingly. The taking over of that business has somewhat swelled tlie balancesliect of th'd- Company above the normal. Regarding the new, building, we, had hoped to be in.it by the present time, hut the negotiations about .light and air with our neighbours have been a little. inore protracted than was expected. 1 ' The. matter: is liow very satisfactorily, settled; We expect our new. building to cost something approaching £6000, 'and"we have every- rensbu: to consider that it .will form a very' substantial'investment. Already we: have let * patrt premises. The financial disturbances in other parts of the World can hardly be said to have affected the Company. We- have 'found' it necessary to raise the do-, posit rate of - per cent., as was done in the daily part of• 1901, and also in 1005,"to meet' the -conditions ..which prevail at this period of the year." . The motion, which was seconded by Mr. C. T. Richardson, was unanimously agroed to. The election-of directors'was moved by Mr. G. M. Kobbell, ami soconded by Captain' Johnson.
