DAIRY FARMERS SUSPICIOUS.

HOW THE MANAGER CONVINCED . THEM. ■ In a letter to'our special'Manawatu correspondent,' Mr. Murray, of tho Cheltenham Dairy Company, fells an interesting story of the falling butter-fat tests. Ho says:— "This dry weather, has■ assuriied a very serious aspect.in this district, and during the last week wo have fallen a box of-butter a day. A number of suppliers havo gone down almost/half in their milk supply, while the tests havo not risen to thoir expectations. This is universal throughout tho district. The avcrago test for January was 3.7; and to convinco tho : more sceptical of the suppliers that' the fat was not present iu thoir milk I got two of the most reliable school pupils, who got : second and third place at tho Palmerston competition, to como along in tho morning 'to take a, sample of each' supplier's milk and test it. Tho result was that tho average was .I,lower than the previous period sample. One convincing* fcaturo of tho test was that each pupil brought out the same resultß exactly, not varying a point in any of tho samples. We are now grading 93J." \
