The Lnzarists, or Lazarites, are mem bers of the Congregation of the Mission, a religious order in the Roniai. Catholic Church, founded by St. Yincent de Paul in IG'-U, and so called from tho priory of St. .Lazare, near Paris, which was given to the society in 1632. Tho primary, object was to dispense religious comfort and instruction •;imong tho poor of the .rural districts of France, and to establish seminaries, but its membors, officially called pricstr ii the mission, now have housrf in most • parts of the work'..
