PALESTINE'S POPULATION.
Palestine has witnessed an amazing growth of immigrants since 1922. The present population is 1,336,000, of whom the Arabs number 940,000 and the Jews 370,000. Fourteen years ago the population was 752,000. Then the Arabs numbered 589,000 and the Jews 84,000. Russian immigration has dropped to nil, but German immigration has jumped from nil to 16 per cent. The entry of Poles remains constant at about 40 per cent.
An Irishman had been thrown over a fence by an enraged bull. He had just recovered when he noticed the bull pawing the ground and furiously tossing his head.
“It it wasn’t for your bowing and scraping,” said Mike, “I’d think yer threw me over on purpose."
Dick: “I know I’m going to find Sally an ideal wife. Every Monday when 1 go to see her I find her darning her father’s socks.”
Reg: “That caught me, too —until I noticed that it was always the same sock.”
