Coasting an all-star cast ami a story embracing both mystery and romance, “Charlie Chan’s Chance,” Fox Drama, will be screened by Mr Hull inis week. Charlie Chan performs his greatest detective feat in this picture, untangling the intricate threads of a baffling murder. The solution of the enigma is not revealed until the very end of a battle of wits into which is welded a series of exciting adventures and narrow escapes that overtake the relentless Oriental detective in his search for the murderer. It is not customary to disclose the plot of a mystery drama. It is sufficient to know that Charlie Chan finds himself in New York when what
appears to be the “perfect ccrime” in committed. New York and Scotland Yard detectives combine their efforts to discover the criminal and many suspects are rounded up. Charlie Chan’s methods lead him to clues overlooked by the other officers and furnish a. solution to the tangled skein ofi cir-» cumstance that, eventually, compels the murderer to reveal himself. Warner Oland, outstanding for his portrayal of Oriental characters enacts the title role and is said to give one of the most vivid and convincing performances of his career. Alexander Kirkland who won the acclaim of critics for his work in “Surrender” and Marian Nixon, charming and beautiful, divide the romance. ImF pertant roles are also played by sudh favorites as H. B. Warner, Linda Watkins, James Kirkwood and Ralph Morgan.
