The balance-sheet and report were read and adopted. The report was as follows: Your committee has much pleasuro in presenting their annual report and balance-sheet for the year endingMarch 31st, 1931. Monthly meetings have been held, were well attended, and keen interest was shown. Miss llotop's resignation as secretary was received with regret and a letter of appreciation of her services was sent. Letters of sympathy were sent to Mrs Harrison and to Mr llotop and family. Mrs Hotop had been a committee member for yearsi and a sympathetic , worker. In May Mrs Leslie Jolly handed in ,£2O 8s 3d, the licit proceeds from a concert, for which we most heartily thank her and her helpers. On Saturday, ijtjth July, the first bridge drive was held and proved a great success, it was resolved to hold one monthly. Five were held and realised a nett return of £ll 16s 3d. We are very grateful to Mr Cox for having undertaken the sale of all Plunket products, which is much more convenient than previously. The society controlled the refreshment booth at the football tournament on 27th September, and it was in every way a great success. Our best thanks are due to all who helped us so generously, especially the Boy Scouts who kept the coppers boiling all day. During September a concert was also most generously given in the Athenaeum Hall by the Alexandra Reveille Company. After the performance- the members were entertained by the committee in Roberts 7 tea-rooms. The same month Mesdames Webb and F. Jolly journeyed to Pembroke- with Mrs Bennetts and Mrs Gilmour (Roxburgh branch), to form a sub-coninut-tee, of which Mrs Scaife senr. v.as elected president and Mrs Deans secretary. Dr ElmslieJ took the chair and after a discussion it was decided that Pembroke pay one-quarter of the total car expenses to Roxburgh direct, and £lO yearly to Cromwell, Nurse to visit Pembroke and Hawea on two days every month. By; the generosity of the Borough Council we are now . quite settled in our new quarters in the Council Chambers, rent free. It j is a large, bright, sunny room and a l great improvement on the old one. ! The boys of the Cromwell School, with , the help of their instructors, made us two large threefold screens, which Nurse finds most useful. Our thanks are due to them • also to Messrs D. Betts and R. Thomas for their donations towards same. We again have to thank the Vincent County Council and Cromwell Borough Council for their generous donations, also H. and J. Smith, Gore, for our share in thcir donatiou of one weeks takings. Miss Partick paid. us a visit just before Easter, when a pleasant and profitable afternoon was spent. Your committee heartily thanks the general public for their most generous support given at all times, Nurse Watt for the efficient manner she carries outt her duties, Cromwell Motors for free) garage of car. Mr Roberts for the use :f his tea-rooms for social card evenings, the Cromwell Argus for locals when asked for. and to all those who have helped to make the past year a financial success.

Financial year:—Wo started with a debit of .£l4 3* lod, hut thanks to the enthusiasm of our committee and our manv friends we have now at the end ol the vear a credit balance of £33. FLORENCE WEBB, President. CRACK COWKY, Hon. Sec.

The Plunket Nurse (Nurse Watt) presented her annual report which was as follows:

1 am thankful to be übla to report that, although there were many cases of. scjrious sickness. Bronchitis and Whooping Cough amongst the children during the winter months, on the whole the general health for the year has been very satisfactory. Amongst children over one year of ago triera is still a falling away from Plunket rules in the matter of Diet. Every mother to-day knows that the well-being of her child depends very largely on correct feeding, and! it is obvious that full health and vigour cannot be maintained without pioper food. Unfortunately after the first year so many children are allowed to follow their own caprice as to the kind and amount of food they eat, with not too happy results. During the latter part of the year the i sikes district has beL*n visited every month instead of bi-monthly with more satisfactory results. The new Ford car bus proved more t.han satisfactory, withstanding the wear and tear of daily uao splendidly. 1 wish to extend my thanks to Mr Congo!ton and his assistants for their kind favours, to the mothers who have faithfully'Tarried out the I'lunket methods, and to my committee for their valuable help. During tfie year 1.002 visits were made in Cromwell, and 360 in the Lukes district, a total of 1.371 ; visits to looin were 280 ; mjleag"o 'of ear, Cromwell 1,615 mile*, Lakes district 1,437 miles; a total of 3,052 miles.

The following* officers wore elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Webb ; vice-president, Mrs Thomas; secretary, Mrs Cowey ; treasurer, Mrs Yeoman. The retiring committee was re-elected.
