»A meeting of the Executive of the Mining Association held on Monday evening- was attended b.V Messrs R. G. Varcoo (chair), \Y. Jeiley, K. Jolly, M. de Betteneor, aud J. L. Stewart Wright. . . Mr D. C Betts attended by invitation and laid before the Association his theories regarding a run of gold through the Crown Terrace. Mr Betts stated that he had tried sinking a shaft but at a depth of 26ft Gin he had struck water. He thought before driving it was desirable to ascertain the depth of the ground and suggested the advisability of. borimr. Mr Betts gave a good deal of valuable InformatioH supporting his theory. It was resolved that the Executive Committee Vrecommenus making lull investigation as to the; prospects of developing Mr Betts' proposition on the Crown Terrace and with this end in view Mr G. K. D- Scale be approached in regard to a boring plant and that the Mines Department he written to regarding a subsidy.

Considerable correspondence was received and dealt with including a letter from the Minister of Mines advising of a subsidy of Oco. '£ for £, granted to the Cornish Point Mining Company, and stated that when this sum was expended he was prepared to consider the granting of an additional subsidy if the prospects are sufficiently encouraging.We understand a party visited the Crown Terrace on Saturday last in company with Mr Betls. and will report to a meeting next week.
