On Monday last the hca/. early in tlie day was oppressive, amj just- after midday .something in the nature of a mild waterspout struck the district. As usual its force was spent in the Clyde-Cromwell .gorge, where there wcre_ a few minor wash-outs, but nothing to seriously interfere with i'traftic.
