Miniature Rifle Club

The Cromwell Railway Miniture Rifle club held its opening night on the club range on June 3rd, when upwards of twenty members took part in the opening shoot for a trophy presented by Mr Anderson. The "Mayor (Mr J. Roberts), expressed pleasure at being called on to open the range and atter a short speech tired the first shot, and declared the range open, wishing the club success and prosperity. The club was started with the idea of providing a sport for winter evenings, ihe club is indebted to several local residents for privileges, Mr Thomas for allowing use of the building for a range, and other business men of the town for donating prizes for competition. On Monday, June 10th, a competition started for a trophy donated by Dr. Harrison, with a second prize donated by Mr T. McAughtrie, to be shot over a period of three nights, best two to count.
