Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd, report for week ending Thursday, Aug. 12th, 1926, as follows :
Fat Cattle. -There was a fairly large yarding, 284 being forward, a good proportion of Miese consisting of prime medium - weight bullocks, with a fair offering of good cows and heifers. The market opened at from 10s to 20s per head below last sale's rates, and firmed slightly towards the end of tho sale. Extra prime bullocks to £2O 28 bJ, prime £l6 10s to £l7, medium £l2 to £ls, light from .£lO upward?. Extra prime heifers to .£l3, medium £9 to £lO 10s, medium £7 to £B, Fat Sheep.—There was a medium entry, 1499 being forward, the bulk of the yarding consisting of medium weight bullocks with a icw pens of extra prime sheep. Prices were firmer by about Is per head on last sale's rates. .Extra prime wethers to 435, prime 3ls to 365, medium 293 to 325, light from 2.5 s upwards, extra prime ewes to 343 3d, prime 24s to 203, medium from 20s upwards. Pigs —There was a fair entry, and prices were easier by about 5s t > 10s per he id oa last sale's rates.
Oats, —The market remains quiet and there is little to report since last week. "A" grade Gartons may be nominally quoted at up to 3s 4d on trucks, country sidings. Wheat.—There is no milling wheat offering, and fowl wheat meets with keen demand at up to 7s 2d ex store, Dunedin. Potatoes.—Stocks in store are still heavy, and the demand is easier. Pcima tables may be quoted at up to £6, ex store. Chaff.—Fair consignment* have been coming to hand, and the demand is confined to prime bright oaten sheaf, which is bringing up to £5 12s (Jd, ex truck. Inferior quality is not sought after.
