WIVES FOR FARMERS
'Die West Hiding (Yorkshire) County Council have long been famous for their educational work; they have now Added to their other enterprises an autumn school for young women from farms, small holdings, and rural areas in any part of the Kingdom. Tlie course will embrace instruction in farm cooking, dressmaking, renovation and cleaning, cars of health, butter making, gardening, poultry keeping, physical training and game?, and useful reading. About two-thirds of the studente' time will be spent in household and general studies, and one-third in studies connected with the les°er farming occupation*. There is accommodation for 32 student*, and the cost is 12 guineas for board, residence, and tuition. Tilda is reduced to lu* guineas i:. the ca&e of .those atudente who live in the West Riding 1 . Kach student has to make Eer o«>*n bed, clean her own boots and assist with, the housework when required by the matron. The evenings are to be mainly utilised Lor leisure time occupations; a few will be given to musical evenings or to addresses and discussions on natural history, .social conditions, careers for women, and s > on.
