Wedding at Pembroke.

(From a Corresponded). A very popular wedding took place at Pembroke, on Wednesday, 28th inst, and under the most favorable weather conditions, the contracting parties being Miss lira Thomson and Mr Joseph Studhohne. Both have been amongst us from childhood and their popularity was evidenced by the gathering on Wednesday and the many sincere expressions made to them for their welfare in the future. A social and dance was niven by Mr Frank Thomson in honor of the event, on the overling preceding the marriage, at which a good number attended. The gathering took place in the hall, dancing, interspersed with songs, being indulged in until 1 a.m. Wednesday morning broke forth in perfect, weather, as if heralding to the bride sunshine and happiness during her married life. The marriage ceremony was performed in the Church of England by the Rev. A. 1). Mitchell, in the piesence of a large gathering of friends. The bride was dressed in white satin with Ninone tunic, carrying the customary veil and flowers, and looked in all senses a perfect bride. Miss Zella Thomson (si.ster of the bride), acted as bridesmaid, and Mr W. Studholme as_ best man. The bridesmaid was becomingly attired in cream taffeta, with large heliotrope hat. Each carried a beautiful bouquet, the gift of Mrs C. Turnbull, of Wanaka station. The wedding breakfast was laid out in the Wanaka hotel, the usual toasts being proposed and responded to. In proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom Mr C. Turnbull, in a very felicitous and appropriate speech, expressed the general opinion of the good and sterling qualities of Mr and Mrs Studhohne, to which the bridegroom responded. In proposing the health of the bride's mother, Mr R. M'Dougall sonr. likewise eulogised the superior and Christian qualities of this lady, to which Mr Frank Thomson very appropriately responded. Mr and Mrs Studholme left in the evening for D'Argaville, beyond Auckland, where Mr Studhohne has purchased a property arid where their future home is to be. The many presents received here and from different parts of Otago and Southland were both pretty and appropriate, and the money presents came to a good sum. Mrs Studhohne will be greatly missed in the church, whore bhe was organist, and in other social matters connected with the place. I am sure we all wish them long life, health and prosperity in their wedded life.
