DUNEDIN, THIS DAY. DUNEDIN RACES. The results on the concluding day of the Dunedin Jockey Club's races on Saturday were : Hurdles.—Fisticuff 1, Black and Brown 2. Pinul 3. Flying Handicap.—Lupulile 1, Kostroma 2. Gold Sail 3. Warrington Handicap.—Peerless 1, Benzowen 2, Kilineny 8. Jockey Club Hancicap.—Routine 1, Outlander 2, The Cornet 3. Hopeful Handicap.—Ngatapa 1, Peppin 2, Lourdes 3. Welter Handicap.—Waikaraka 1, Kimona 2. Waihola Handicap.—Buff Gauntlet 1, Safety Pin 2. Wingatui Handicap.—Turna 1, Effort 2. The sum of £41,950 was put through the tote, an increase of £1075 on last year's figures. At the Caulfield races the Futurity Stakes was won by Poiinjay, Desire 2, Comedy King 3. In. the cricket match Otago v. Southland, only one innings was played, Otago scoring 152 against Southland's 135. In the fifth test match the English team scored 324 runs. Australia have lost five wickets for 120 runs. In connection with the alleged offer of money to Mr Payne, the member for Grey Lynn, Maurice O'Connor, of Auckland, says his offer to the secretary of Mr Payne's committee was £IOO for election expenses. The idea of its bribing Mr Payne to support the Government was preposterous, as his (O'Connor's) feelings were in quite the opposite direction.
