THE TRAMP'S TALE
The other day a tramp called upon a pronounced advocate of woman’s rights. His tale was a very plausible one but did not seem to meet with much sympathy. "Why don’t you go to work ?” asked the lady, "Please, ma’am," explained the beggar, "I made a solemn vow ten years ago that I would never do another stroke of work till women were paid the same wages as men." He was taken in. So was she.
