The Canadian Thistle.
There is a great, diversity of opinion about the Canadian thistle (says the 11 Clufcha Leader ”) Some of the farmers ruefully hold that they are the ruination of the country ; others say that they are not so bad. I t is reported that one tiller of the soil tried the method of sprinkling some agricultural alt on the thistles and this tempted the sheep to eat them down to the root-. The sheep were, according to a s nhsnquent buyer, the Fattest tint had come from that part of the Clutha Another way was tried near Stirling. A herd of pigs were turned into a paddock which was overrun with the thistles. The pigs settled them all light—loots and everything and seemed quite satislied with their prickly fare. They also ploughed up the paddock. Whether (he thistles have gone for good is another matter.
