Social at Tarras.

(From a Correspondent.) The annual social in aid of the local school funds was held in the Tan-as Woolshed on the evening of Friday, August 19th, the shed being kindly lent by the manager (Mr W. M. Wi'son). The -we ither was all that could be desired and as the roads were in splendid order for travelling, were present from Hawks burn, Baiiuockbiun, Bendigo, Hills, Mount Pisa, Luggate', Queensberry, Ciudrona, Albertown Mount Barker and Hawea Flat. The ladies of the district provided an abundance of toothsome edibles, and the wants of all were assiduously attended to by Mesrfaines Bell and Wilson, assisted by the Misses Marshall, Traynof, and Bell (3), while Messrs Wilson, Colling, E. Barker, Fmebmi, and Li. Bell kept the 'pot abofling' and assisted generally. The two efficient doorkeepers were Messrs It Barker: and K. Munro. Music was supplied by Messrs A. Perry and <*fc>jigkiuson (violin), J" 1 ' 1 Pollock (piano). Extias were played by Mrs Hendrio (piano), Wenborn (violin), and M'Hardy (accordeon). Mr J as. Anderson gave general satisfaction as M.O. During an interval in the proceedings Mr Wilson as one of the committee, thanked all for thenpresence, and stated that the takings amounted to over £\ 2 which he considered very creditable. Bell, white frocks with coloured sashes; Miss Wilson, delaine blouse with lace collar, dark skirt; Miss Traynor, pale blue silk evening gown ; Miss Meuzies, white mousseline de soie ; Miss S. Munro, pretty pink silk blouse, dark skirt; Miss Jean Munro, white muslin red sash;' Miss Bain, cream silk evening gown; Miss Ewart (llawea Flat), saxe blue silk blouse, dark skirt; Miss Sowerby, white blouse, dark skirt; Miss B. Gillespie, while and heliotrope blouse, dark skirt; Miss Smith (Hawksburn) white frock trimmed with pale blue,; Miss Marshall, black aud white frock ; Miss L. Anderson, pretty cream blouse, black skirt; Miss Hope, pale blue frock ; Miss Freda Barker, cream blouse, velvet skirt; Misses Ivy and Annie Audersou, delaine frocks trimmed with pale blue.
