STRANGE RAILWAY CAR.
Perhaps tho strangest looking railway car in the world is the new gasolene motor which the Union Pacific Railway has recently completed. The design of the car body is similar to the hull of a sailing yacht, and as it tears across the prairies it somewhat resembles an overturned craft driving before a gale with its keel in the air. The front of the car is tapered off to a point. OLDEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Jersey has a Chamber of Commerce which is not only the oldest in the British Isles, but the oldest in the British dominions. The Glasgow Chamber was founded in 1783, while there is a record of a meeting of the Jersey Chamber dated February 24th, 1768. COAL FOOTBALL TROPHY. At Hucknell Torkend, in Nottinghamshire a collier named Turton has made out of a piece of coal a monster football cup. This trophy which is a marvel of the sculptor’s art—though ordinary sculptors would not dure to deal with so brittle a substance as coal —is at present being competed for by the local football teams. Even the League teams are anxious to secure it.
