The biggest cannon-ball ever made weighed y, 6001b., and was manufactured at the Krupp works, Essen, for the Government of the Czar. The gun from which this projectile was fired is also the largest in the world, and is placed in the fortifications of Cronstadt. This gun has a range of twelve miles, and it has been estimated that each shot coats £BOO.
