Thursday, March 2nd. [Present: —His Worship the Mayor (E. Murrell, Esq.), Crs. Ross, Gair, Moiris, Betts and McLoughlin.] , / CORRESPONDENCE. From Mayor of Dunedin, enclosing a draft of the rules of the proposed Advance Otago League.—Received. From Health Officer, asking for samples of water. —Received. From Dr Morris, reporting that two residents of Cromwell are suffering from enteric fever, and they were now in the Hospital under treatment. — Received. From Mr Wood, asking a transfer to Mr John Hogg of his lease.—Received, Clerk to interview Mr Hogg. From Mr John Hoskings, asking that the nuisance caused by Messrs Craig and Go's horse paddock be abated, jus the sand, chaff, etc., was smothering him, even coming into the house.—Received. From Inspector of Nuisances, re Mr llosking's complaint, stating that in his opinion a nuisance was created' and ought to be abated. —Received. v From Mr E. Barns, asking that his rales be remitted. —Received, and it was decided that no rates be charged. It, was resolved that the solicitor's opinion be obtained in regard to the, nuisance complained of by Mr Hosking. Resolved that 24 new domes for the street, lamps be obtained. Accounts amounting to £2 14s 6d were passed for payment,. In regard to the Post Office site it was resolved that the Mayor be instructed to treat with the Government re the same. A plan of the new Fire Brigade Station was laid on the table, and it was referred back to the Captain for his opinion. Resolved that the tenant whose rent is considerably in arrears be placed in the Borough Solicitor's hand for collection. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
