The Bicycle in a Murder Case.

From Somerville, N.J. (U.S, A.), comes the report of a remarkable use of a bicycle in a murder case. Not only did the mm-derer attempt to escape on his bic\cle after committing his crime, but his pursuers were similarly mounted, and succeeded in riding him down A man named liageett, who emigrated from London in 1893, was living as a farmer at Somerville. Lately he had discharged a farm hand named Clossen because ho caught him stealing, and also refused to pay him 30dol wages due. Clossen rode to the farm-house on his bicycle and asked to see Haggett. The latter at once came to the door, whereupon Clossen bred three shots at him from a revolver, killing him instantly. The murderer then jumped on his bicycle and fled. Mrs Haggett shrieked to some carpenters building a house near by, who had come to their work on bicycles, and they started in pursuit. The chase was also taken up by some men on horseback, but the latter were distanced. Sheriff Moore, another cyclist, mounted his machine, and tore after the murderer. Clossen had obtained a start of a mile. The chase lasted for ten miles, and took the party over two high hills before Moore and the carpenters overtook the murderer. Clossen was then put into a waggon and brought buck to Somerville, where ho was met by a crowd of farmers who thieateued to lynch him.
