[FROM AN OCCASIONAL CORRBBFONDBNT.] William Baker waH charged before Messrs Heller and Jenkins, J.P's., with wilfully burning a stack of oaten sheaves, the property of his grandfather, Mr C. Low. Inspector Pardy conducted the prosecution. Mr W. Turton appeared "for the accused. The following witnesses were examined : Constable Bowman, 0. Low H. Low, and Samuel Low for the prosecution, and Dr W. H. Dutton for the defence, who stated that the accused waa not responsible for Ms actions, owing to' his state of insanity. The case occupied the court all day. The bench committed the accused for trial at th 9 .next sittings of the Supreme Court, Invercargill, on September 24th, Bail was allowed,
