To keep Japanese matting fresh amt clean rub it once a week with a cloth damped in salt and water. A few lumps of beeswax, if wrapped each in a bit of old linen and put in the folds pf a white satin gown, will keep it from turning yellow. Linoleum should never be scrubbed with soap and water,lor I his remove-.' the pattern. It should he 1 nbhed with a wet flannel to remove the dirt and then polished with sour milk and water. A good method of keeping linoleum in order and restoring it to its original brightness is to mb it with a piece of llannel dipped in a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine. The following method of cleaning waste pipes will bo found oflieaeions : —Just before refiling for the night pour into l.lieel( W ,-d pipe enough hot liquid snda lye to fill the “ trap ”or bent part of the pipe. Bo very sure that no water runs into it until the next morning. During the ni lit, the lye will convert all the od'i.l into soap, and I,ho first flush ol water in the morning will wash it away, leaving the pipeas clean as new. ’
