ENTERTAINMENT AT CLYDE.

[Contributed. J The Clyde Amateur Dramatic Club held its second entertainment in the Town Hall, Clyde, on the 16lh inat., to a very good and appreciative house. The ladies and gentlemen who took the different parts in part I, “ The Boots at the Swan,” were as follows : —Mr Henry Higgins, (Mr H. Stevens) ; Prank Friskly, (Mr G. Jeffery); Peter Pippin, (Master J. Stevens) ; Jacob Earwig (the Boots at the Swan), (Mr A. Murray); Miss Cecelia Moonshine, (Mrs Gilkison); Emily Trevor, (Miss Thompson); Sally Smith, (Miss Stevens); Batty Jenkins, (Miss O’Halloran). To individualise each actor in their various parts would be too lengthly a matter, as each did his or her part and did ic well, but it would be wrong not to say a word or two in reference to a few leading characters. Mrs Gilkison, as (Miss Cecelia Moonshine), was a treat not often enjoyed here; the artistic and finished touch she gave to her several parts, was sublime. Mr Murray, as (the Boots at the Swan), was a thorough success, and oy his comic burlesque convulsed the house with laughter. Part ll.—“The Area Belle,”, was supported by Tosser, (Mr A. Murray) ; Pitcher, (Mr W. Holloway); Chalks, (Mr H. Stevens); Mrs Croaker, (Miss O’Halloran) ; The Area Belle, (Mrs Gilkison). It would be folly to give a minute detail of this play which was mirth provoking, and, as fast football players would put it, kept the ball rolling, until, sir, I thought the back of my head would burst with laughter. Mrs Gilkison’s part proved to our young ladies that a woman can be a lady either in the position of Miss Cecelia Moonshine or The Area Belle in the kitchen, “and no wonder.”
