GOLD MINING IN NEW ZEALAND.
+ The Financial Neivs recently devoted an article to gold mining iu Hew Zealand. It said: —While the quartz reefs of New Zealand can never be expected to present the reliable characteristics of the Watwatersrand formation a unique thing in mining—there is every reason to anticipate that many of the mines of the couutry will become large producers, like a great number of properties depeudeut on quartz reefs in otner parts of the world. Where the present stage of development has produced only small quantities of rich ore, shares will continue a lively medium of gambling ; but where sufficient work has been done to demonstrate a capacity for returns some distance ahead, shares bought at moderate prices may reasonably be hoped to turn out well, and as long as reports are studied and a continuance of successful development ascertained, there should be little risk in holding.
