London, May 26. The Guards were landed at Alexandria this morning, and the order which had been issued for a second army corps to proceed to India has been annulled. May 27. In consequence of the hostile attitude of the inhabitants of Zanzibar towards Germany the German corvette Stoich and two other war vessels have been ordered there. The boundary of the English protectorate in New Guinea which was agreed upon by England and Germany has been cabled to the Australian Governments. The Admiralty will supply the Governments of New Zealand and New South Wales with 10 torpedoes each, of German manufacture, immediately, and will also supply Adelaide, Victoria, and Tasmania with Whitehead torpedoes. . Berlin, May 27. Lord Rosebery, who has been here on a visit since Friday last, will shortly return to England. During his stay he has had repeated interviews with Prince Bismarck, the nature of which have not transpired. The Emperor docs not show signs of improvement in health. The intestinal disorder from which he is suffering is checking his progress towards recovery. London, May 28. It is announced that the Admiralty have definitely adopted the Brennan torpedo, which is the invention of an Australian engineer. An important Conference. was held at the Admiralty yesterday between the Colonial Agents-general and. Admiral Sir Cooper Key, senior Naval Lord, on the subject of Colonial defences. Captain Brennan, of Victoria, the inventor of the torpedo bearing his name, has received a lafp amount from the English Government for his patent rights. " The race, for the Manchester Cup was run to-day, and resulted in a win for Mr R.
