MINING INTELLIGENCE.

; There is not much of interest to report from the' Banuockbnm. Since the holidays the claimhblders' have been steadily sluicing, taking advantage as much as possible of the water supply, and there will be no washings of any consequence for another two months. Most of the raceholders are beginning to feel the/effects of the late dry weather. The Bannockbarn race will soon be completely stopped unless a change takes place, and we have,, a rainfall. , The Carrjck race is still keeping up a fair supply; but water is in great demand, and the company could dispose of double the present quantity. According to report, a very valuable claim aVQarncV(Griffiths and Grerifeli) will"soon be jn,th\'ej market. It appears that some disagreement has taken place between the partners, and,the property will be,submitted to public, auotion. No doubt there will be keen competition between the ;two shareholders for the possession of the ground, but outsiders who have no idea of the amount of gold obtained will hardly risk a large price. Some excellent quartz has been uncovered in'sluicing, this claim, but until slrficin'g is stopped, during the winter,- it will be impossible to prospect it to ascertain the quantity. Some very good crushings were obtained fro'irt this ground some years ago, when it was Held Nil Desperandum Company, and as 1 the'gold got in sluicing is all reef gold. ; .there I 'can "Be ho doubt a good reef exists, which will not be difficult to prospect sow that the surface is all taken off. •Mr William' Radford, of the" Young Australian, Carrick, will finish his crushing this week, ana from what we can hear, will have a-very'respectable cake, The Last Chance party are raising stone, but the reef from which the last crushing was tatien'is, thin, so they have not much stone at} grass's' :." , .Bendigo the Cromwell Company sent dowp. a cake of nearly 3700zs for the month, and we hear there is a large quantity of stone of the same description so no doubt the Company will be able to declare steady dividends for some time. The Directors are wisely peeping up their dead work, arid a contract hagi been let to R. Morris and party for driving 300 ft at the 430 ft level., The Come-in-Time, Bendigo, also had a cake of .55ozs. The stone in this claim has not come up;to expectations, but the last two or three weeks' from scarcity of water, the mill has not been able to put through more thanhalf its usual quantity of stuff. It was attempted to-pick the stone so as to save crushihg a large quantity of mullock, but this'Tias been found impracticable as small ve'iris'of quartz run through the whole mass iff rock, andabout 30ft wide has to be taken as it comes. ~ ,
