No one guessed the correct weight but there were seven within a }l'b of it. The sheep will 'be shared 'between D. MeLelland, T. Maginness, W. Mitchell, oojlb, and J. "McNutt, Mrs l C. Ashmore, P. Laughton '5611b. As the Warhola Cricket club will not ibe a'ble to place a team in the field until the middle of January, the visit of the Owaka team to Waihola will not take place on the Bth January. It is expected that advantage will 'be taken of (Mr D. Finlayson's invitation to play a friendly match at Locliindoi'b on that date.

'Messrs IMarryatt, Finlayson, Findlater and Parker have Ibeen nominated for the (South Otago representative team to take part in the Country Cricket Week in Dunedin, commencing on the 17th January. Connell was not availaible.

'Every available vehicle has been requisitioned for the trip to Port Molyneux on Saturday. If the present fine weather 'liolds there will be a record exodus from Owaka that day. IMt Philip iConnell, a returned soldier, 27 years of age, died at the residence of his parents, Hunt's (Road', on Wednesday evening as the result of a gunshot wound, apparently self-in-flicted. The deceased had returned froni Dunedin' the previous day. His father, hearing a shot aibout 4.45 p.m., 'hastened to find his son with a gunshot wound in his head. The iyrjured man expired a'bout two and a-half hours later. 'Deceased had suffered from acute nervous depression and shellshock'since his return from tlie war.
