BALCLUTHA v. CALEDONIAN. , The Balciut-ha bowlers celebrated ' | Labour Day by playing a seven-rink . game against the Caledonian (Dunedin) j Club. The weather wae entirely favour- : able, and a keen and enjoyable contest j resulted in favour of the visitors by 142 points to 1 -i7. Afternoon tea, supplied. by lady supporters of the club, was thoroughly appreciated. Following are the detailed scores:— B. 0. ' Kit wards (s) 137 142 STIRLING CLUB. OPENING OF SEASON. The official opening of the Stir-ling bowling green took place on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of bowlers from the following clubs: Benhar, Kaitangata and Balclutha. The president (Mr J. Muir) extended to the visitors a hearty welcome, and called on Mrs Muir to roll the first bowl, which was a toucher. The time-honoured game, president v. vice-president, was played and resulted in a win for the president, the scores being: President 118, vice-presi-dent 84, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the lady friends of the club for supplying and dispensing afternoon tea. ______ SOUTH OTAGO CENTRE. t The annual meeting of the South Otago Bowling Centre was held on Wednesday at Stirling. The following clubs which are affiliated to the centre were represented: - Kaitangata, Tapanui and Stirling. The president (Mr •las. Rutherford) presided. The usual report and balance-sheet were read, which showed the centre to be in a very satisfactory condition. A further sum of £lO was voted io the Red Cross Fund. It was decided to hold the annual tournament as usual on the same system as last tournament. The following office-bearers were elected for the season 1916-1917:—President, Mr Jas. Rutherford (re-elected), Kaitangata; vice-president, Mr ,T. Muir (reelected), Stirling; lion, secretary, Mr •I. G. Henderson (re-elected). Stirling; lion, treasurer, Mr .1. Hsson (re-elected), Stirling; auditor, Mr .). McK. Miller (re-elected), Benhar; executive, Messrs W. Anderson and A. Buchanan (Balclutha) and E. McFadyen (Kaitangata).
