The first one has been presented, states the 'Tiverton Gazette,' to Mr J. D. Campbell, of Howden Court, Tiverton, the father of the late Lieutenant J. D. Campbell. . . Ou September 1, near Compiegire, the L Battery Royal Horse Artillery in a mist ivas attacked by 'eight German guns at 500 yards' range. They could only get on« gun in action, bufc they put four of the German guns out of action and did not cease fire until their ammunition was exhausted.
The Mayor of Vienna stated lately at a meeting of the Municipal Council that Germany will take sponsonship of one Austro-Hungarian city which has been damaged by the Avar, while Austria and Hungary will each take care of h damaged German city. Austria and Hungary chose Ortel.sbnrg and Gerdanen. both in East Prussia, which wcie damaged by the Russian invasion, and Germany chose Goritz. which has been subjected to bombardment by the Italians.
