Mr W. F. Bennetts (postmaster) is at present on holiday leave, and is taking his well-earned rest at home (writes our Kaitangata correspondent). j The death occurred at Roslyu on Wednesday of Mr Eden Bowler. The deceased was a well-known and much-re-spected business man in the stock and station business. He met with a severe accident in a motor car smash about 18 months ago, as a result of which he was compelled to retire from business. Mr Bowler was auctioneer and sub-manager for Dalgety and Company for nearly 18 years. He retired in 1912 to join' his father-in-law (Mr Donald Ueid). In consequence of the accident, his dea.h was anticipated by his friends for some time. His death will be deeply deplored by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and one daughter. The deceased gentleman was a sou of the late Mr Edmund Bowler, Koau Bank, Inehclutha. Mr Allan Bishop (manager of the National Bank, Balclutha) has received word from his second son, Lieutenant W. Gibson A. Bishop, who returned to Egypt from England in February, that he has received his captaincy, and has been instructed to remain in Egypt for a time helping to train the reinforcements. The appointment dates from March 1. His elder brother Erie was expecting to leave camp in England any day when he last wrote early in April. The late Mrs Euphcmia Buchanan MeKinlay, whose death occurred at her residence at Clifton Villa, Inehclutha, on May 14, was born at Beinsford (Falkirk, Scotland) on February 1, 1841, her father being foreman moulder in the famous Curran ironworks. The deceased lady was married iu 1859, and the following year, with her husband and young child, sailed for New Zealand in the Lady Egidia, lauding at Port Chalmers in January, 18(51. They settled on a section at Port Molyneux (now occupied by Mr George Melville), where Mr McKinlay followed his trade as a carpenter. After remaining at Port Molyneux for 10 years Mr and Mrs McKinlay removed to Clifton Villa, where 'they had resided ever since. They celebrated their golden wedding seven years ago, and their diamond wedding would have taken place in three years' time. The late Mrs McKinlay leaves a husband and a family of seven sous and two daughters 'to mourn their loss.
