OWAKA v. ROMAHAPA. The Owaka Senior Cadets journeyed to Romahapa on Saturday to play the Romahapa Senior Cadets (writes a correspondent). Owaka won the toss and played with the wind ami the sun on their backs. Romahapa kicked off, and after the game had been in progress for about five minutes Begg scored for Romahapa, the kick at goal being resultless ' This livened the Owaka boys up, and shortly after McLean got the ball from a line-out aud passed it on to Johnston, who scored. A little later Shaw got the ball aud passed it on to Johnston, who scored his second try. Just before half-time Owaka were given a free kick, and Johnston kicked a capital goal, but the referee did not award it. Just after the kick-off Romahapa forced Owaka flown on to their line, where Owaka forced down, but the referee awarded Romahapa a free kick, stating that the ball had been pulled out of a loose scrum. This the Owaka boys objected to, and a very hot argument ensued. One of the Owaka players left the field, and then the rest followed. Mr George 'Hay was referee, but his decisions were, to say the least, open to question and appeared to favour the Romahapa players.
