CONDUCT OF THE WAR. LLOYD GEORGK CORROBORATES CARSON. LONDON, May 7. Mr Lloyd George, in the course of his I Conway speech, said that the number of men equipping our Navy with munitions was almost equal to the number engaged in France in making munitions for the i French army. j Replying to some of his best Liberal j friends, who had been somewhat shocked, ! by his fervour in prosecuting the war, Lloyd George emphasised that a badly-conducted war meant a bad peace, which would he no peace. In concluding war a Government should not only 'be resolute, but should appear resolute and ready to face the horrors "of war. If they had confidence in their leaders, a nation's spirit was the propellant of the armies. Therefore it was important that, whatever happened, the people should be confident that the Government were doing their best in the 'firmest and most resolute manner to conduct the war.
