Some time ago we exhibited in our office window five extra large apples Crown by Mr T. A. Johnston, of North Balcluth'a, and invited growers to send along their exhibits if they thought thev could go one better. In response Mr'.las. Smaill, of Incliclntha, lias sent along two specimens of fruit which ho says are "I'easgood's Xon-such" specie of apple, but which our editorial department at first, on account of their size, mistook for pumpkins. The apples, which are lib lloz and lib 9oz in weight respectively, were grown on Inchclutha, and are now on view in our window. They are said to be very pleasing to the. palate, a statement which we shall verify before the week has advanced much further.
