They lured her with chocolates and she fell," was the amusing explanation of the failure of Miss Becky Edelson to maintain a: hunger strike which she began in New York latelyMiss Edelson was a prominent figure in a recent demonstration of unemployed. She was arrested for making a slighting remark aibout the United States flag after the seizure of Vera Cruz. On the following day the prison authorities placed in her cell two boxes o2 the finest bonbons and a bottle of ice-cold milk. iShe nibbled at the bonbons and expressed surprise at their quality. On the Monday morning the aroma of beef stake, toast and soup in her cell completed her surrender. She was released next day on bail pending her trial. She says that thd hunger strike, though very inconvenient, will be adopted in future iby all women labor agitators.
