RIVERSIDE MATTERS.
Mr Malcolm, M.P., is in receipt of the following replies from the Minister of Public Works in regard to Riverside roads and protective bank:— A. S. Malcolm, Esq., M.P., Balclutha. Dear Sir, —I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26th ultimo asking, on behalf of the settlers on the Clutha river (Riverside), that £IOOO (£1 for £1) may be put on the Estimates' for a protective bank. In reply, 1 have to state that your request will have due consideration when the Estimates are being framed. WM. FRASER. A. S. Malcolm, Esq., M.P., Wellington. Dear Sir, —I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the Ist inst. with reference to the application for a grant of £ISOO (£ for £) for the Swamp road, between Balclutha and Port Molyucux, and in reply to inform you that this matter will have careful consideration when the Estimates arc being compiled.
