RIVERSIDE MATTERS.

Mr Malcolm, M.P., is in receipt of the following replies from the Minister of Public Works in regard to Riverside roads and protective bank:— A. S. Malcolm, Esq., M.P., Balclutha. Dear Sir, —I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26th ultimo asking, on behalf of the settlers on the Clutha river (Riverside), that £IOOO (£1 for £1) may be put on the Estimates' for a protective bank.
