JBOM ODE OWN COER*BP.ONDINT. RIFLE-SHOOTING. The Kaitangata Rifle Club held a '•'liekl ilny" at the local range on Saturday. The day was calm, with slight showers, but those did not prevent a number of the fair sex from turning up taking part. Refreshments were provided, and a most enjoyable day was spent. I" the Field Match the ladies drew for riflemen. The ranges were 300 yds, 500 yds and (iOOvds, Prizes were presented by a number of residents and business people. BEREY STREET DRAIN. ; The Mayor reported that Mr Lee considered that 4ft pipes would be required for the drain, and as this would run into about £7BO the matter was almost prohibitive as far as his company was i concerned. The matter was eventually allowed tp lapse, as the council's funds were too low to do anything in the meantime.

OUTSTANDING RATES. The council decided to charge 10 per cent on outstanding rates after 26th inst., and if not paid after seven days from that date the rates will be sued for.
