SUPERANNUATION BOARD. . WELLINGTON, March 18. The election of three members of the Public Service Superannuation Board, to represent contributors belonging to Departments other than the Post and Telegraph and Police, resulted:—Mr H W. POST AND TELEGRAPH SERVICE. OBJECTION TO COMMISSIONERS. WELLINGTON, March 18. At the annual meeting of mailroom clerks the chairman of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association referred to the dispute between the association and the Public Service Commissioners, stating that it had engaged the attention of the executive for months past. The advice of the best men in the service had been sought, but no solution had been arrived at. It was generally admitted and regretted that the Commissioners had been against the association from the outset. He regretted that differentiation between the grading of positions in the Civil Service and the Post and Telegraph existed and the Commissioners had not removed it. This they could prove. The position was impossible and they could nofc submit to the Commissioners' ruling. The service had objected to the Commissioners. They did not want them and the time was -eagerly looked forward to when the Department would again be under the control of the Minister.

AUCKLAND, March 17. Ihe Auckland Waterside Workers' union has in hand a scheme for supplying its own _ members and tbos<» attached to arbitration unions' throughout the city with meat at cost price. On Saturday a special meeting of the union will be held for the purpose of considering a large scheme to"be ulaced on a proper business basis. This is the first attempt made by a New Zealand t'ade union to adopt the eo-openitiye purchase principle, 'just now thfe idea is being tried on a small scale, members of the union purchasing meat direct from the freezing chambers, with the result that they are obtaining lamb at 4d a pound and mutton at 3jd—practically one-half of current- prices at Auckland. The method of procedure is for members to buy carcases dnect, and for the union to supply men to cut them up for division among the purchasers.
