M. Fougere has been married for several years and has two children, a boy and a girl. The man whom he shot was with Mme. Fougere at the time. He died in hospital to-day. RICKED HIS BACK. PHOTOGRAPH AS MURDER CLUE, The Brussels police have received definite information as to the identity of the original of the photograph of a girl which was left in a book by the man Wilson, believed to be an Englishman, who is wanted in connection with the murder of Mme. Sauvrain, a lodg-ing-house keeper in' Brussels (stated the Brussels correspondent of 'The Daily Mail'). The original of the photograph is a foreigner who has been living for some time past in Central Europe. The Brussels police are'hopeful that she will be able to give them valuable information as to the identity of the wanted man.

When James Walden and Charles Smith were charged at Birkenhead (Eng.) with stealing 541b of bras* and, with being found on enclosed premises it was stated that on a recent night the watchman at Messrs Oammell, Laird, and Co.'s shipyard heard cries and found Walden and Smith up to their necks in a tar pit. It took six men three-quarters of an hour to yet them out. One man ran away anil the other was detained. In an overcoat besido the pit waa discovered some brass metal.
