STIRLING CHURCH.
CALL TO REV. J. D. WEBSTER. A call to Eev. J. D. Webster, of Queenstown, from the Stirling-Inch-clutha charge was laid on the table at the Southland Presbytery meeting on Tuesday. It was signed by 139 members out of a possible total of 189, and by 19 adherents. Commissioners Peter McSkimming and JameS Smaill, from Stirling, were heard in support of the call. A very appreciative minute from the Queenstown congregation was read. This congregation lamented the fact of the call, but would not place any obstacle in Mr Webster's way. Mr I Webster himself then stated his mind. [ Rev. E. M. Eyburn moved, and Eev. Mr IBaird seconded, that the Presbytery place the call in Mr Webster's hands. 1 This ■ motion was carried, and Mr Webster having formally accepted the call lie was enjoined to await instructions from the Clutha Presbytery. In saying good-bye to Mr Webster the Presbytery expressed its high appreciation of the work done at Queenstown during the last four years. The Presbytery will meet at Stirling for the induction of Mr Webster on or about the 23rd inst.
