THE MATING OF LYDIA.

It will be news to many of our readers to learn that Mrs Humphry Ward, the noted authoress, is an Australian by uirth. She was born in Hobart, Tasmania, in ISSI, and was the eldest daughter of Thomas Arnold, son of the famour Doctor Arnold, of Rugby. Mrs Humphry Ward 's newest novel is entitled "The Mating of Lvdia," and has begun to run serially in the February issue of '' Everylady's J ournal'' now before us. It is fitting that this notable story by an Australian authoress should appear exclusively in so popular an Australian .woman's magazine as '' Everylady's Journal.''
