PICNICS.

OWAKA MILK SUPPLIERS. The milk suppliers to the Owaka factory held their annual picnic on an ideal site near the factory on Wednesday afternoon. The gloriously fine day was responsible for a large attendance. Farmers, old and young, gladly laid aside toil r.ud care for a few hours, and ladies were there in full force, attired in summer apparel, bent on a pleasant afternoon of fun and frolic. A lengthy programme of sports events was carried out without a hitch, and drew forth keen competition. There were games in pleutv, and quiet strolls or lolling on the terrace occupied the time of those not inclined to show their athletic prowess. Trophies and c-ash were liberally donated bv,the business people and settlers of Owaka. The committee provided tea, sugar, milk and sandwiches, ■while there was also an abundance of dainties in the baskets brought by the ladies. The secretarial work was again ably carried oiit by Mr W. Adams, who had a strong committee to assist him. We have to thank Mr Adams and the committee for the courtesy extended to our representative. As the ghades of evening fell the picnickers began to think of home and lowing cows, and a final cup of tea was partaken of, followed in a few minutes by cheery good-byes and clinking of harness.
