PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs Sinclair Wright, late of Balelutha and now of Miller 'a Flat, are at present spending a short holiday in Balelutha looking up old friends. The new locality seems to be agreeing with them, and they are both looking woll; "Not an ache or a pain sin,ce we went there," said Mr Wright to a Leader lpan yesterday. At the meeting of the Balelutha Borough Council on Wednesday flight Councillor Wood moVed: "That this council expresses its deepest sympathy vy-fth the Mayor in the loss he has sustained through the death of his father." The motion was carried in silence, all the councillors standing. Mr Stewart, senr., was in his 91st year, and resided in Scotland. j Jilr C. Mayer, who has resigned from the employ of Stewart's Manchester House, Milton, and accepted a position in Messrs Herbert Haynes and Co.'s dress department, Dunedin, was, prior to his departure from Milton, presented by the firm and employees with a firstclass Roslyn travelling rug. Eulogistic references were made by Mr A. E. Stewart (manager) and Mr Kay to the recipient's connection with the firm as an employee during the past 15 months. Mr Mayer suitably responded.—Times.
