WANGALOA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Since my lasjt, there is very little to record. The weather has not been behaving itself very well of late —ever since we had such a blow on the bagpipes from the Kaitangata Pipe Band, which you have all heard about. We had a heat wave for a while, and then last week it took the cake for blowing and raining, and .I have no doubt it did a lot. of damage to the ripening crops. The grain crops throughout the district are going to be very short this year; in fact, as long as 1 can remember I have never seen them so short and light. I don't think the farmers will be very iiard on the twine market this year. In regard to the turnip crops, in a great many cases they are complete failures, this being attributable to the grub and ily taking them as they came up. This is to be regretted, as it will lie very hard on the large numbers who depend on the turnip crop for winter feed. Mr Smith, of Roseneath, has a very nice turnip crop, having got them in early, and they came awaly all right. Mr Wilson's flaxmill is still running here, but T. hear they are going away at the end of the season. Our roads are in fairly good order just now, the surfaceman having been filling up the worst of the boles with maintenance gravel. Mr Sim's singing class for young people is well attended, and the young folk are taking a great interest in it. Mr Si in and Miss Mitchell (who presides at the organ) are to be congratulated on taking up such a laudable object. Since the class started there is a noticeable improvement in the church singing on Sundays.

We arc losing our esteemed minister, Mr Currie, wiiich is to be regretted, but we will have to bow to Mr Currie's decision. What is our Joss is Mangere's gain.
