£I2OOO IN A GARRET.
DEATH IN RAGS FROM COLD. Securities for £I2OO were found in the garret of an old man named Etienne Roland, popularly known as Father Onions, who lived by selling onions and herbs to the small restaurants in Montmartre (Paris). He never begged, hut was so poorly clad and looked so miserable that many a customer him charity. The old man was discovered dead of cold and hunger, lying on a heap of rags in his garret. His heirs ire being searched for.
