"A DISGRACEFUL TURNOUT."

EXTRAORDINARY PARADE. WHANGAREI, Feb. 4. A reporter Avas present at the Senior Cadets' parade last night. The cadets on the previous week had uniforms issued to them except stockings. The boys paraded last night wearing variegated socks and suspenders. When the parade was started they marched round the hall singing. "Here We Go Hound the Mulberry Bush," and "What's the Matter With Father?" whistling "The Grenadiers" and passing remarks such as "Hold your head up or I'll sell you." They imitated Sergeant May and Avhen they Avere given commands to halt called out "Whoa!" It was a disgraceful turnout generally. The police were eventually called in but they were unable to make an arrest as that'power lies with the defence authorities. Af<t the parade they formed squads and uaraded the street led by a boy with a mouth organ and singing parodies of popular songs.
