TOO MANY GIRLS.
The lament of London barbers over their disappearing business sounds from Aldgate to Temple Bar in the ears of the diminishing number of customers who still are shaved in the citv (says the 'Daily Mail'). One of the chief causes of the, decline, they all say, is the ever-iiK'reasing number of women employed in city offices instead of men. "I was walking round St. Paul's Churchyard one morning," said one barber, "and it brought the tears to my eyes to see the throngs of young women pouring in to work who never want a shave—so much business gone! The safety razor did us a lot of harm, because so many men shave themselves now. Then the Shops Act by making us close at midday on Saturday means tho loss of an enormous amount of work, because nearly all our Saturday trade is done as men go home from their offices."
